victoria blue light

The Blue Light concept came into being in 1976 when a group of Police held a disco in Mooroolbark, Victoria. Since then the Blue Light has become a key element in the Victoria Police "Pro-Active" strategy.

Since 1976 Blue Light has been highly successful in providing alcohol and drug free entertainment for the youth of the metropolitan and country Victoria. More than 6 million children have attended a Blue Light Disco.

Victoria has 41 disco's operating throughout the state at this time. Off duty Police and Civilians are involved in their supervision. Children have safe environment in which to enjoy themselves.

With over 29 years of expertise at Discos, Blue Light has now developed new activities for Victoria's young people. Blue Light in Victoria has evolved into an essential part of Policing in this State. Discos are no longer the "only" or "main" events held under the Blue Light banner. "Derby Hill Youth Camp" Tennis Coaching, Youth Forums, Light Horse Brigade, Pool Party Discos and Educational Visits are all part and parcel of the Blue Light available to youth in Victoria. We now have, self defence classes, clinics for basketball, abseiling, canoeing, skate boarding and cricket.

Blue Light is constantly introducing new activities for its young patrons and through the inspiring and energetic supervision by its leaders, looks set to become bigger and better in the 21st Century.
